Analytics
Tracking and understanding who visits your website and what they do there.
The Tradie Take
Analytics is your job management system for marketing. Just like you track which jobs paid and which cost you money, analytics tracks which marketing brings in calls and which is a dud. Without it, you're guessing. With it, you know exactly where to spend your marketing budget.
Definition
Analytics means tracking and analysing data from your website and marketing to see what's working and what isn't. Google Analytics is the most common tool - it shows you how many people visit your site, where they come from, what they look at, and whether they call or book. Without analytics, you're flying blind - guessing which marketing works instead of knowing.
How It Works
- 1 A small tracking code is added to your website (Google Analytics or similar)
- 2 It records every visit: where they came from, what pages they viewed, how long they stayed
- 3 You can see which marketing channels (Google search, Facebook, word-of-mouth) drive the most enquiries
- 4 This data helps you double down on what works and stop wasting money on what doesn't
Tips for Tradies
- Set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console - they're free
- Track phone calls too, not just website clicks - calls are what actually pays the bills
- Check your analytics monthly, not obsessively - look for trends, not daily wobbles
